What changed in build 3889?
A FiveM blood is two files: an .rpf with the particles, which goes in the mods folder, and a bloodfx.dat, which goes in citizen\common\data\effects and says which effect plays on each shot depending on the body part, the weapon and whether the player is alive or dead.
In GTA V build 3889, Rockstar added a column to the bloodfx.dat tables (a new weapon group), added two effects and removed two it no longer uses. Servers that enforce that build (sv_enforceGameBuild 3889) misread older bloods: the game reads the file as one long run of values and, with a column missing, everything shifts and no blood shows at all, not even on the body.
Bloods made before 3889 come in the old format. The updater moves them to the new one, which also works on older builds: one file works on every server. We tested it in game on servers running 3889 and 3258.
What the updater does
- Counts the columns in the tables: 25 is the old format; 26 is build 3889’s.
- Puts the file in the build 3889 format and keeps your own effects where they were, including any table cells you changed.
- Adds the two new build 3889 effects and removes the two it no longer uses, unless your blood uses them.
- Checks the result before handing it over: if something doesn’t add up, you get nothing.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t touch the blood’s
.rpf: it’s the same on every build. - It doesn’t fix a blood that doesn’t show for other reasons, like the server’s pure mode.
- Don’t change the build in your
CitizenFX.inito test: if your GTA doesn’t have that build’s DLCs, FiveM won’t start. The server picks the build when you connect.
